Abstract
:-
In [2] our direct theorem we see that , when we approximate an increasing function , we wish sometimes that the approximating polynomials be increasing also. However, this constraint, restricts very much the degree of approximation, that the polynomials can achieve, namely ; only the rate of . In[3] Kopotun, Leviatan and Prymak proved that relaxing the monotonicity requirement in intervals of measure zero near the end points allows the polynomials to achieve the rate of . On the other hand we show in this paper , that even when we relax the requirement of monotinicity of the polynomials on sets of measure approach zero, is not reachable .
