Biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) is one of the most widespread bone substitutes, and its effective role in sinus floor lifting has been broadly confirmed.

Biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) is one of the most widespread bone substitutes, and its effective role in
sinus floor lifting has been broadly confirmed. Sixteen New Zealand rabbits with a mean weight of 3.5 kg were divided
into two groups according. to the graft material of the HA:b-5 TCP ratio in the bBCP:: (1) the TCP40 group, where the
sinus was implanted with BoneMedik-DM (META BIOMED‚ Korea) and categorized by HA:b - TCP=60:40; and (2)
the TCP70 group, where the sinus was grafted with OSTEON. II (Genoss, Korea), and categorized by HA:b- TCP =
30:70. The surgical procedures were for the realization of bilateral sinus lift techniques for each animal,each sinus was
grafted with one of two types of BCP). After that, the rabbits were killed 7(n=4), 14(n=4), 30(n=4) and 60 (n=4) days
after surgery. The biopsy specimens were prepared for histological and histomorphometric evaluation. There was a
decrease in both augmented area and residual material in these two groups with the progressing healingpperiods and in
TCP 70 group there were decreased more than in TCP40 group. Although, the New Bone Area was increased in these
two groups with the progressing healingpperiods and there were statistically significantsdifferences between two groups
after 30 and 60 days periods only and there’s increased in TCP70 group more than in TCP40 group. The osteoconductive
effects in the sinus augmented with BCP with the HA:b - TCP (30:70) ratio were higher compared with the (60:40) ratio
in the rabbit sinus model.
