Bedwetting  the research indicated that most children achieve normal continence of urine by the age of five to six years. Bedwetting at night is not considered significant until a child is six or older than six years of age and has either established dryness then followed by experiencing a relaps and this called secondary nocturnal enuresis or has never established dryness in primary nocturnal enuresis. Research also indicated that enuresis is prevalent in 7% to 20% of males and 3% of females ranging from ages 5 to 7 years of age.At age of 10 years, the prevalence is 3% in males and 2% in females. Typically by the age of 15 years, most children have outgrown bedwetting. In most cases the cause of bed-wetting is unknown. This study is to determine the prevalence of bedwetting in children age up 5-15 years and to investigate parental knowledge towards enuretic children. A quasi-experimental study was conducted in five teaching and non-teaching hospitals and one psychiatric teaching hospital in Baghdad from the middle of May till the end of August 2007, in order to identify parents knowledge of their children with nocturnal enuresis, and to construct an educational program for parents, and to determine the effectiveness of such program upon the parents knowledge about complications of nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting). Purposive sample of (50) parents who accompanied their children with enuretic children have been selected. The data collected by the investigator who interviewed parents and fulfilled the constructed questionnaire formats. The reliability of the instrument was determined through test-retest and the validity through a panel review of experts. The data were analyzed through the application of descriptive statistical analysis that included (frequency, the mean, the mean of scores, standard deviation and percentage) and the application of inferential statistical analysis that included (t-test for independent sample, t-test for dependant pre-test and post-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, chi-square, and analysis of variance for the differences between pre-test and post-test of the study group). In general, knowledge of parents related to nocturnal enuresis was low mean of score (35.93%), however, the parents applied preventive practices towards their children with nocturnal enuresis. The findings of the study have proved that there is a high significant positive relationship between the parents knowledge and their demographic variables (age, educational level, occupation, residential area). The results of the study also, indicated that the educational program had a positive effect on the knowledge of parents. Parental attitude toward bedwetting was found to be very supportive. Although parental knowledge of the cause of bedwetting was limited, their reaction to it was positive and supportive. The researcher recommended to prepare and implement the educational program for parents with enuretic children, medical and nursing staffs to givehim the knowledge about the condition.
