Staphylococcus aureus is considered one of the important bacterial species cause food poisoning by eating foods contaminated with bacteria or their toxins. A total of 500 meat samples (Fresh, Frozen ,Can, Hamburgers and sausages) were collected from different butcher and supermarket used for the isolation of S. aureus. All the isolated strains were tested for their antibiotic resistance to 14 antibiotics. The results indicated that 68(13.6%) isolates belong to the staphylococcus . After a confirmatory examination using the nuc gene, they found the number of isolates was 30(44.1%). It was found that the higher resistance was against penicillin antibiotic 24(80%) , and the Lowest resistance against Levoflaxacin and Gentamycin antibiotic.
