It gains several practical application like : vaccination programmes , tissue transplantation and autoimmune diseases .

The aim  of this work was at reporting the immunomodulating effects of some drugs in a lapin experimental model .

The test drugs were mixed along with egg albumin antigen (EA) in an equal volume  ratios  and  using   multisite injection  protocol in immunopriming of rabbits .

The immunologic end point for checking immunomodulating effect was the increase or decrease in serum and mucosal antibody responses at secondary immune response state , using microhaemagglutination and interfacial tube precipitation test for assessment .

Two experimentation sets were attempted , first was including control groups each of two mature rabbits ( oryctolagus cuniculus ) kept ad libitum .

These were : saline , alcohol , antigen , immunostimulation and immunosuppression controls . Drugs were used at theraputic concentrations along with the antigen , While the second experimentation sets consist of the drug treatment groups each of two mature rabbits kept ad libitum .

Each test drug was with three concentrations , one theraputic and two subtheraputic           ( except for 2-4-D ) using same immunopriming protocol and same assessment criteria as that for first experimentation sets .

The judegment for immunomodulation was either reduction or increase in humoral mucosal as well as systemic anti EA antibodies than in titre of antigen control group , saline as well as alcohol controls were as  that  for antigen control group .

Vitamin A  as  well  as   sunflower  oil   were   showing   higher anti EA  titres  than in  antigen  group alone .Chloramphemicol  and  benlate  were  found of reducing potential for anti EA  titres than in antigen group alone .

Rifadin  (0.6 – 6 mg/ml/kg) , vitamin D2 ( 1.7 – 34 IU/ml/kg) and 2-4-D       ( 0.72- 7.2 mg/ml/kg) were found as humoral immunotoxicant . Such action was seen as reduction in anti EA titres than in antigen group alone and sunflower oil group . The immunotoxic response was of dose dependent type .

The relation between dose and responses was simple negative linear type  both for systemic and mucosal humoral  immune responses . Thus , rifadin , vitamin D2 and 2-4-D were immunosuppresent.
