الوصف الكامل (Full Abstract)
Chemical Study for the Volatile Oils From the Flowers of Two Wild Species of The Genous Salvia Grown Wild in the North of Iraq .
Fourth Scientific Conference , Scientific Research Council , Vol.( 1 ) , Part ( 2 ) , Baghdad , Iraq , 1986 .
Abstract :
The genous Salvia is considered as one of the important genera of the family ( Labiatae ) in Iraq with over than 24 species that had identified .
This study carried out with two Salvia species which grown wild in northen Iraq which are ( Salvia macrosiphon Boiss. and Salvia palaestina Benth. ) .
The inflorescences of the two species were collected during the full bloom stage , from the suburbs of Sulaimania province north Iraq , the volatile oils of the inflorescences of the two species were obtained by using the steam – distillation method .
Some of the physico – chemical properties of these oils were recorded by using the standard methods . Qualitative and quantitative studies of the components of the oils were performed using both TLC and GLC techniques .
The oil of Salvia palaestina Benth. Was found to contain high values of ketonic volatile components , especially ? – thujone , while the oil of Salvia macrosiphon Boiss. found has high content of esters such as Linalyl – acetate and Geranyl – acetate , and those two components were found to be responsible for the aromatic scent of these species .
