THE EFFECT OF NATURAL HONEY ON INHIBITING THE MUTAGENIC EFFECT OF MITOMYCIN -C- IN WHITE MICE

Abstract
The study is designed to investigate the role of natural honey in the inhibition of genotoxic effects of mitomycin-C- [ MMC ] drug in mice [Mus musculus] through using the cytogenetical test by determining the mitotic activity , chromosomal aberration [ chromatide and chromosome break ] and sperm head abnormalities . The results revealed the following :-
Absence of toxicity and mutagenicity for all concentration of honey at tested doses , the high inhibitory effect of mitomycin-C- for cell division in addition to induction of chromosomal aberration and sperm head abnormalities and the high inhibitory efficiency of all concentration of honey against the toxicity and mutagenicity of MMC .
