Microfluidics has become an emerging science and technology of systems that process or manipulate small amount of fluids, using channels with dimensions of tens to hundreds of micrometres. Due to the minute length scale characterising microchannels, the Knudsen number (???? = ??/??, ratio between the gas mean free path and the length scale) determine the behaviour of fluid flow. Microelectronic devices generate heat as a result of the electrical activity of the internal circuitry. In order to minimize the damaging effects of this heat, thermal management systems have been developed to remove the heat. There is a growing interest in micro-channel fluid mechanics and heat transfer resulting from the rapid growth of novel techniques applied in microelectro mechanical systems (MEMS).
